Mechanical Drawing and Scenic Design—Technical Theatre I Students

Students start the learning the process of scenic design by first reading and analyzing the script. They develop sketches of the scenery, collaborate with their peers Then we begin the process of learning the “old school methods of drafting” using a scaled ruler, T-square, etc. Once they have completed and have evaluated their scaled floor plans, they begin to extrude the two-dimensional foot print into three-dimensional objects, including the basic conventions of a proscenium stage.
